SUPRAOLIVO gets underway with the first meeting of the group

The partner organisations of the SUPRAOLIVO Operational Group met for the first time to launch the project and define the schedule of trials for the 2026 and 2027 campaigns in the three participating territories: Galicia, Castilla y León and Andalusia.

The project’s consortium SUPRAOLIVO – Innovation for the sustainable and adapted development of olive cultivation in Galicia, Castilla y León and Andalusia held its first coordination meeting on 15 June 2026, marking the start of joint work among the participating organisations.

This first meeting made it possible to introduce the consortium members and establish initial contact among the different organisations. During the meeting, the participants briefly explained the role they will play within SUPRAOLIVO and showed their willingness to collaborate to facilitate the development of the planned activities.

Coordination and planning of the next steps

One of the main objectives of this first meeting was to establish the foundations for smooth coordination among the partners during the project. To this end, it was agreed to formalise the consortium’s working group and establish communication channels for sharing information and monitoring the different activities.

The consortium also agreed to hold regular coordination and monitoring meetings, at which the work plan, schedule of activities and responsibilities of each participating organisation will be specified in greater detail.

The meeting also addressed the planning for 2026. The partners agreed to review the year’s budget information to check each organisation’s financial implementation status and analyse the progress of the activities planned for this year.

This monitoring will make it possible to track the progress of the activities carried out, identify possible needs and, when necessary, introduce adjustments or rescheduling to facilitate the proper development of the project.

A project based on cooperation among territories

This first meeting marks the starting point for SUPRAOLIVO’s coordinated work, bringing together organisations from Galicia, Castilla y León and Andalusia to generate knowledge and solutions that contribute to developing olive cultivation that is more sustainable, profitable and adapted to the particularities of each territory.

Its lines of work include the agronomic adaptation of native olive varieties, the physicochemical and sensory characterisation of oils and analysis of the sustainability and profitability of cultivation in the three autonomous communities.

Cooperation among producers, businesses, cooperatives and scientific and technical organisations will make it possible to compare different conditions and experiences and advance the generation of knowledge applicable to the sector.
